Keeping it elegant this Diwali

Namaste, my loves! Wishing you and your loved ones a very Happy Diwali and a prosperous year ahead! How are the preparations going? I’ve had so much fun redecorating my room this season because I had a proper direction of what I wanted to do. So if you’re interested to see how I decorated my room, please mention in the comments below and I might just make a post about it! However, today’s post is going to be an outfit post of what I am wearing this Diwali. Before I start, let me give you a short insight on what the major fashion trends are for ethnic or Indian wear in 2017.
2017 trends for Indian wear are all about relaxed silhouettes and playing with layers. Giving a new edge to your kurta by pairing it with a lehanga or wearing a salwar with palazzo pants are just some of the layering options you can choose from. You will also get to see a lot of metallic fabrics in the foray this season. Other than metallic, bright and popping colours are also seen these days in the market. Bling, in the form of sequins, appliques & other ornamentation are seen in a lot of pieces this season. Another major trend seen is pairing a crop top with a lehanga, which gives the outfit a more casual, yet chic look this festive season. Also seen in the market are cut-out shoulders, high necklines & mesh fabrics so you have a lot of options to choose from.
This year, I, my sister and my mum went to Hyderabad to visit our relatives. We took out time one day to check out the local market for traditional wear as my sister had a function she had to attend and needed 2-3 outfits for the occasion. The market was so vast and the options were endless. It surely felt like heaven because whatever store we went to, there were such beautiful pieces and we just couldn’t make our minds on what to pick. I asked the shopkeeper that I wanted to see some simple pieces for myself because I didn’t want any fancy or heavy set which I wouldn’t be able to wear later on.
After trying on a few pieces, I came across a silk anarkali set which was really simple but looked so gorgeous. The top part comprised of a fitted blue sleeveless blouse, with tiny teardrop shape embroidered all over it. The blouse ended in a belt with gold embroidery and mirror work and the skirt was plain silk of bright pink colour. A pair of blue leggings and a bright pink dupatta completed the outfit. Because of it’s breezy silhouette, it gave the lower half of my body the right curvy shape, which was so flattering. I chose to accessorise the outfit with a pair of statement earrings and  gold sandals. The outfit style, design and fabric gives a south Indian feel to it.

  1. Wow, what a sleeveless blouse and skirt you are wearing. The combination of shocking pink with blue is so elegant and special, especially for the special event like Diwali. I am so impressed with the collection.
