Top 5 trends this week

Hey there! It’s been quite a while since I’ve done a countdown to 5 series so here it is- top 5 trends this week! As we all know, trends are ever-changing, so I’ve gathered together a top 5 list to keep you posted on the latest trends this week. Keep your pen, shopping list & wallets ready because the countdown’s about to start!
Trend 1: Bell sleeves
Popular in the 70s, these sleeves are making a huge comeback in the retail scene this season. And it comes in a variety of lengths. This trend can be carried out with utmost ease on any body type for several occasions, be it casual or formal.
The black strappy bell sleeved top can be worn for a casual night out; whereas the floral Love21’s top can be worn for a casual girl’s day out/date night; the off-the-shoulder sky blue Romwe crop top is best for a brunch out or on a cruise!

Trend 2: Suede
When one thinks about suede, one would normally associate it with accessories such as bags or boots. But in this season suede is seen on a large scale in various apparels. You can spot it in fringed jackets, crop tops or even button front skirts. And it’s a smart way to add oomph to an otherwise casual outfit.
Wear the faux suede mustard crop top from Forever21 for a fun day out with pals; or the smart suede skirt for date nights; the two piece black number from forever 21 is a must have for a night out in town & so is the misguided faux suede biker jacket.

Trend 3: Denim
Denim is a never ending love affair in the fashion world. One simply cannot deny. But there are a lot of different styles seen these days when it comes to denim. From dungarees to jumpsuits & shirt dresses to culottes, we’re seeing a whole new world of denim wear in stores today.
The vero moda dungaree mini dress is cute for a day out with family & friends; make a statement by throwing over the Alice+Olivia cropped denim jacket along with you outfit; the forever21 button front denim skirt is perfect for those hot Indian days; the breezy ASOS midi dress could very well be your go-to dress when you’re meeting pals; the dungaree jumpsuit works well for outdoor picnics with family (do any of you all do that anymore?)

Trend 4: Wrap (it up!)
Introduced to the fashion world by Diane Von F├╝rstenberg in the 70s, this popular number(and it’s variations) are being seen a lot in stores. I reckon it will be a popular trend this autumn season because of the comfort it provides. Initially, it was seen a lot in skirts & dresses but these days, we can spot this trend in tops & jumpsuits too.
Wear this blue Lavish Alice(ASOS) skirt for formal parties; a skater wrap tea dress is perfect for date nights; wear this blush toned tea blouse for a meet with relatives; or you can throw on this nude hued long sleeve wrap dress from Vero Moda dress for any formal party or a brunch out; the brown ASOS grid playsuit is a fun outfit to put on while going out with friends!

Trend 5: Leather
Best for the last! Since it’s autumn weather now, which will soon be transitioning into winter, you will be seeing a lot of leather jackets in stores (especially in Vero Moda stores in India). And it’s not going to be the customary black leather; it will be leather in all different colours- green, mustard, maroon, etc.! How fun! Definitely excited about these!
The pink Zara leather jacket is perfect for Wednesday fashion (taking a cue from Mean Girls, of course!); the Olivia Burton leather strap watch is perfect for date nights & brunch; The Forever21 black platform booties is an absolute must have for any fashion fanatic; so is the black leather trousers from River Island; Wear the pink leather skirt for a day out with pals along with the black backpack from Zara!

The Long Cardigan

It’s monsoon season & there’s a palpable chill in the air. Although I love dressing up all the time, I also like just being comfy on some days. And on those days, a cardigan sure comes handy! A cardigan, typically worn in cold weathers is a casual coat made out of wool. It is generally open in the front & just meant to be worn over tops during cold weather.
Albeit being considered as one of the wardrobe staples for a cozy day at home, it is also a principle fashion apparel for outdoor wear, especially when the air is crisp. So I would suggest you to invest in one if you need that one piece that will help complete any look. These days, one gets a wide range of styles in cardigans. One of them is the long length cardigan.
The robe I’m turning the spotlight on today is a long crochet cardigan which I spotted at Global Desi. The cardigan by itself is really pretty, made with crochet & is off white in color. It's asymmetrical in length and it can be worn in any season. Due to its trailing end, it can make any ensemble look striking. I would recommend wearing it with a strapless printed jumper or a two piece set. And I’m super excited to try out new looks with this one!
I’ve decided to go boho with today’s look by pairing the cardigan with an olive colored dress which has a heavy neck detail. I’ve also added metallic tattoos on my arms & a feather tattoo on my ankle to add to the boho vibe. I’ve accessorized this look with a yellow metallic clutch, matching dangling earrings & pom pom sandals (just to match the colorful neckline).

Earring Love!

Having so much fun with this! >twirls<

I keep going back to these. They're a pop of happiness!

A date at The Waterhouse Deli

Hey folks! How’s it going? Friendship week has just passed & I wanted to do something special with my bestie, Snehal Raut. But before I start, let me tell you something about Snehal- she’s kind, sweet, charming gal who I first met at my current workplace. She was a marketing head at the time. I never thought we would bond so well and I would say it’s fate that we chanced upon each other. It’s been more than 3 years and our concordance is just growing stronger. She’s a newbie (lifestyle) blogger much like me and I’m so happy to have had the privilege to spend the day with her.
The place I decided to take Snehal to was The Waterhouse Deli, which I found on a popular restaurant discovery service. It is situated at Thane, Manpada area, and is the perfect spot for Thane residents who wish to go to private and peaceful eatery to grab a bite. At first glance, The Waterhouse Deli is an open spaced bistro with floor seating and water elements around it. It reminded me of resorts in a beach setting. But due to monsoons, they had changed the seating arrangement to sofas & turned off their indoor waterfall due to maintenance.
A few snaps of the interiors and you will find more on Snehal's blog:
I absolutely love these colourful paper lanterns!
We decided to order their speciality for starter and mains, which Snehal will elaborate on her blog. So head over to to get the part 1 deets of our date! Over to part 2, which I will take you through, are the drinks & dessert (because the best things in life are always sweet!). The Waterhouse Deli only offers mocktails so our options were a bit limited in that course. So we decided to let the bartender decide for us and surprise us with the drinks.
Surprise 1:
Snehal wanted something healthy (girls, I know…sigh) and peppery (English word for Chatpata) and that’s all she told the bartender. So he made a juice from carrots & beetroot in peppery spices. It was a flush red colour & really refreshing for the palate. I would recommend this drink for anyone who doesn’t have a sweet tooth. You’ll really enjoy it.
Surprise 2:
I have a sweet tooth (not much of a confession) and I specified that I would like to have a fruit punch kinda drink. So the waiter asked me if I’ve ever tried a fruit punch made out of musk melon & green apple. I sure hadn’t, so that’s what he gave me. And oh boy, it was great! It was like a musk melon milkshake with a hint of green apple, which I never thought I would ever give a try if I saw it on a menu. But I’m glad I did. Thanks, bartender! A big thumbs up to you!

Surprise 3:
You must be wondering how a third surprise has come up, right? Well, we liked the musk melon drink so much; we decided to order another surprise drink. This one was minty coloured and kinda looked like it was inspired by the aqua coloured skirt I was wearing. It tasted very minty, which made me feel like Blue Curacao was added to it. Nevertheless, it was yum!
The Waterhouse Deli has the standard assortment of desert, which includes Chocolate brownie squares, blueberry cheesecakes, new york cheesecakes, cupcakes , etc. We decided to order a Blueberry cheesecake & a red velvet cupcake (just because it was super adorable to look at….please don’t judge us) The blueberry cheesecake had a lot of butter to the base & it tasted quite buttery because of that. But the red velvet cupcake stole the show. It was truly delicious.

The (very photogenic) red velvet cupcake!
Yep, that's how normal people eat a cupcake!
A special mention I would like to give was to Adrienne, the manager who helped us from the get-go. He catered to all our needs with utmost patience & graciousness. All the staff at The Waterhouse Deli were very polite and perfect hosts. We had an enjoyable experience & will surely visit again.

Hope you liked the Friendship Day special from us! What are the places that you would like us to review next? Comment below & let us know & we might just oblige!
Till then, cheerios amigos!
Love, Pranita.

Varsity Chic

Do any of y’all remember college? I recall them as one of the best years of my life. It is that phase of your life which you simply cannot get back. I remember being all sorts of sweaty when I first stepped into the classroom on my first day in fashion college (shy girl problems). Yep, here’s where I’m gonna spend my final years as an awkward teen, I thought. Awkwardness is one of my many special traits. A lot of my close friends will agree to this, I’m positive.
It’s been quite some time since I’ve last been to college, but I will always love college fashion. This is the place where one can experiment with style & everyone’s style brings out a part of their individuality. And believe me, everyone’s style is different. I remember loving skinny jeans at the time, but it used to be very uncomfortable sitting all day in those, so I would recommend investing in loose pieces for your college wardrobe. And that brings me to my newest blog topic- Varsity Chic. Or in other words, Back to college fashion. Because at college, you will be stressed, you will be depressed, but hey, at least you will be well dressed (#slayingoncampus)!
The piece I’m wearing for today’s post is from Vero Moda’s AutumnWinter’16 Varsity collection, which features luxe monochromatic merchandise inspired from the college fashion. It’s also the look being seen on a large scale on runways this season. I’ve paired it simply with a black backpack, sunglasses & black sneakers. I would recommend adding a cap to give this look a bit of an edge. You’ll see how in my photos.
Also, please pardon the photos as the weather was at its gloomiest best during the time of the shoot. Seriously, monsoons, you are every blogger’s worst nightmare. But no worries, I’m all for taking things in stride & delivering despite circumstances.
(Rolls up sleeves) Let’s do this!

Any of you guys missing those school days too? I feel ya. To those who are still at school, cherish them, have fun and make loads of memories while you're at it. Because these days are golden and in the end, all you'll be left with are the fun times you had with your friends.

Stay chic, stay true.
Till then, xoxo lovlies!
