An inkle of Periwinkle

Fashion forecast and trend report identifies softer colours coming in the fore this season. And rightfully so, as pastels are one of fashions most understated favourites. This muted palette comprises of colours such as serenity(or blue hydrangea), chambray, rose quartz and periwinkle. Periwinkle (ahh, such a cute name!) seems to be a season favourite, so I figured, why not give it a try? After all, fashion is all about trying new things!

The first time I saw this dress was online (yes again, as I’m an avid online shopper) on Forever21. I was enamoured by its simplicity and the newness of this colour. It is strapless, with a flounce on the bust line and floor-length with a belt made of its own fabric. Since this dress was simple, I decided to add some edge to it. Hence I added a Vero Moda printed jacket and my wavy strapped choker to it. My braided flat sandals and a white clutch completed this interesting look.

If you haven’t already seen it, click on the link 5 ways to wear shirt dress to get a better understanding. Taking a cue from my previous post, I’m going to elaborate a bit more and show you how the Shirt dress can be worn on a curvy body type. So all the curvy beauties out there, get ready for some dress up fun with this season’s most popular trend.
In today's post, I’ve worn an Orange shirt dress with dipped hem and cold shoulder from ASOS. I love bright colours so when I saw this dress, its popping orange colour immediately caught my eye. It's breezy silhouette falls perfectly on my frame. I would definitely consider it as one of my most stylish wardrobe pieces.
I chose to accessorize the shirt dress with a statement multi-coloured necklace to and add pop of colour (because, why not?). I’ve also accessorized it with blue embossed clutch and black flats. A chain bracelet, beige heart shaped sunnies & statement ring complete the look.

Shirt Dresses have made a huge comeback this fashion season in NYFW. And this time, they’re not your run if the mill oversized men’s shirts. They’re more stylized in design with designers now turning to longer versions of the shirt dress. Taking a cue from the trend direction, retailers too have started introducing styles of shirt dresses along with their in store collections.
How did shirt dresses first come into fashion? Let’s brush up on a bit of History of Fashion, shall we? Shirt dresses came into fashion in the 1940s & popularized in the 1950s when Christian Dior launched a “new look” post World War 2. The story of a Maxi Dress

How are you, pals? I’m back today with another outfit post. And this time, it’s about the most understated apparel in fashion- Maxi dress. Maxi dresses are long, floor length dresses that are easy to wear, comfortable and relaxed. They’re certainly a bliss…you can wear them anytime! Maxi dresses are an informal way to dress up and are so comfortable at the same time. They are essentially worn in summers because of their breezy & loose fitted silhouette. If you don’t own one, you should buy one now because they can make anyone look effortlessly striking.

My sister Prerna was in a bit of a predicament & she wasn’t sure of whether to get one or not. So she did what any sensible younger sibling would do- call up her elder sister for advice. Now, for a person with a slim and tall stature, maxi dresses are pretty much a perfect wardrobe addition. So I told her to go for it. In today’s post, you will see the simplest way to carry a maxi dress.

The dress is a monochrome maxi dress with thin stripes. It is a subdued pattern which can be worn easily by layering it with a denim jacket, a leather biker jacket, a kimono shrug, etc. or it can even be worn as it is with statement accessories. Today, I am going to show you the basic way to wear a maxi and with time we will stylize it in a variety of ways.

8 Chic ways to wear Pantone colour of the year- SERENITY

Did you know, Rose Quartz & Serenity have been chosen as 2016 Pantone colour of the year? This is the first time two colours have been chosen as the Pantone colour of the year. What is Pantone, you ask? Pantone is a colour matching system, used in various industries mostly for printing & for developing of colour paints. Every year, Pantone declares a “Colour of the year” based on what is taking place in the culture that serves as an expression of a mood & an attitude. Pantone also releases a book, Pantone View by which fashion & interior designers & other consumer oriented companies purchase to plan for their future products.
Serenity is a cooler tranquil blue colour, which reminds me of the sky and it’s eternal presence. If you’re wondering how you can pull of this style, don’t worry, I’m here to help you out! What is more, this colour can go perfectly well will all skin tones

Serenity is perfect to wear for work. In the stressful & chaotic environment of the workplace, this colour gives off a calm & cool vibe. Don’t be afraid to experiment with layering- Serenity goes well with other neutral hues too.

The long & the short of it

Be inspired. Serenity can be worn in almost any type of clothing, but keep in mind the accessories you team it up with. Opt for warmer hues like tangerines, browns & pinks while accessorizing with this colour. Plus size beauties can go for longer dresses with cinched waists; petite & slim sized babes can opt for shift dresses.

Wear it classy or wear it edgy

Another way to wear Serenity is to style it in statement pieces. Go minimalistic chic by pairing it simple lace top & a bag(works well in summers). Runway to boulevard- Off the shoulder

The trend that has essentially been dominating the runways & red carpets this year is the off shoulder style. This style is so versatile; any woman can wear it with absolute ease. It can also be worn with almost anything. It’s the perfect medley of sexy & laidback.

Today, I’ve gone for a simple & classy look with a red off shoulder top & white denim shorts. It’s perfect for casual Sunday brunch with the girls, a day out or even a long drive. The top that I’m wearing is quite breezy & relaxed, ideal for Indian summers. It’s paired with white denim shorts another summer staple. A gold chain & black strapped sandals complete this minimalistic ensemble.
